OUR HISTORY
Monmouth Petanque Club was formed in February 2010. As a result of extensive fund raising by the 19 members, grants from local organisations and a 50% grant from SportWales the terrain was built on Monmouthshire County Council land alongside the Rockfield Community Centre in Monmouth. It was opened in May 2011.
The Club has a 21 year lease and priority use of the terrain. It can be used by the general public outside designated Club usage. It is an “open” terrain and is big enough for 6 pistes of International size.
The Monmouth Club, which is a member of the Welsh Petanque Association, now has 40 members of all ages and abilities. We have strong links with Monmouth Comprehensive School and the local day centre for disabled adults.
The Club has been successful in obtaining two SportWales Community Chest bids for funding to cover the cost of purchasing equipment and the cost of training three coaches to Welsh Petanque Association standards.
